The Environmental Commissioner of Ontario is the province's independent environmental watchdog. Appointed by the Legislative Assembly, the ECO is tasked with monitoring and reporting on compliance with the Environmental Bill of Rights, and the government’s success in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and in achieving greater energy conservation in Ontario.

Energy Conservation

Starting in 2010, the ECO will report on progress of activities in Ontario to reduce the use or make more efficient use of electricity, natural gas, propane, oil and transportation fuels. We need your help!

We are collecting examples of successful energy conservation initiatives in your community. Click here to submit yours!

The ECO writes a brief reports on the handling and disposition of every application recieved by ministries under the <i>EBR</i>. These are published each year in the Supplement to the Annual Report, and are now available online.
